Battambang Governor Asks More Cooperation from Thai Authorities

Battambang: Battambang Governor Nguon Rattanak has requested the Thai side to provide more good cooperation to help in preventing illegal crossers that may cause more spike of Covid-19 cases in Cambodia, especially the Delta variant. This was following the detention of 11 Cambodian migrant workers who were found trying to cross the border. The workers were detained by the Thai border in Khlong Hat district, Sa Kaeo province before they were sent to the Cambodian border on 4 August.

In the request, the governor says, "We request the Thai side to provide more good cooperation to help prevent the migration of Cambodian workers, please continue to help detain and bring here to stay temporarily.  For a while, the Royal Government of Cambodia has closed the border to prevent the entry and exit to prevent and prevent the spread of Kovid 19 Delta virus for a while." He has also thanked the Thai side for taking care to facilitate the detention and provide temporary accommodation for Cambodian workers.

In addition, the governor led the visitation and inspection of  the detained workers in the Thai territory before they were brought to the Cambodian border. A kilogram of noodles, fish and some drinks were donated by Minister of Interior Sar Kheng to the workers at the tent camp organized by the Thai authorities.
